The product would consist of a few main parts...
- the base
- growing medium
- pods
focus
- modular
- compact
- simple
No moving parts, the design was narrowed down for simplicity. Creating a two-part system, the product would consist of a base and a top which the plants will be inserted into
propagation pod
The pod would be used to give support to the plant and allow the user to customize their garden's aesthetic by creating a modular insert.
inserted into the pods, the 3D-printed growing medium will help support the roots and allow the plant to retain structure. Using TPU and specified printing inputs, the medium will act as an innovative sponge using new industrial techniques
form
after exploring various shapes, the form was finalized
maunfacturing was fully automated allowing all the pieces to be 3D printed and CNC cut. The finishes and final applications were all done by hand.
