Meiro

The user guides the ball bearing around a maze of dead ends. Holes in the paths will either bring the user to a new part of the maze or drop them inside to force them to restart.

My clients story was first abstracted to gain a better visual representation to work off of for future developement

A client-centered ball-bearing maze based on an abtracted representation of a story they described to me

developement

visualizing it two dimensionally, I created an initial prototype to understand how the different parts would interact

modeling it with CAD, I was able to fix and prep the interactions with the walls and tubes

in the first medium fidelity iteration, the tubes and walls couldn't join. The tubes would kink resulting in the ball bearing getting stuck and the acrylic created fingerprints.

using laser-cut MDF, transition pieces were made to pressure fit the tubes to securely attach to the walls and eliminate kinks.

a bumper around the corners was added to allow the user to hold the maze without touching the acrylic
