current issues
universal
ripping
function
stability
excess
Not all bags fit in all holders. Companies make custom bags to force consumers to buy their products.
Ripping can cause excess holes and be a difficult step in the process while the hands are occupied.
Current dispensers on the market don't help the user in the process due to their limited functionality.
Holders sway when walking making an enticing toy for the dog whcih creates a distracting experience
Too many bags can come out making more problems. Forces the user to roll it back up manually or put the in the pocket.

initial sketches
Keeping it simple yet functional, I narrowed down my sketches to move forward with development
initial prototype
The roll pressure fits onto the holder which can rotate t roll the bag in. Inspired by produce bags, I added an attachment to rip the bag, but not all work for it.
secondary sketches
secondary prototype
I introduced a strap to make the dispenser have two points of contact. I also added both tearing options to see which feature the user testing will like more.
user testing
I went to a dog daycare and interviewed the employees and let them handle the prototype. I asked them a variety of ten questions and they all came back with positive responses.
Rose, 24 - dog handler
"I want one. I would play with the wheel all the time"
Susan, 55 - dog care manager
"I understand it perfectly, very intuitive"
Lizette, 27 - dog walker
"Makes it very easy"
The main concern was materiality, but theymentioned that even with it made of cardboard and tape, the functionality works very well.
